Physiotherapy
A safe, efficient, powerful and repeatable golf swing is the combination of good technique, bio mechanics, sequencing, timing and physical ability. Without adequate muscle flexibility, joint range of motion, stability and strength, it is virtually impossible to create a full, safe, consistent and dependable golf swing.
Golf Muscle Balance Assessment (MBA)
A golf MBA test, assess and analyse the following;
- Posture
- Spinal movement
- Muscle flexibility
- Joint testing
- Range of motion
- Muscle stability & strength
- Golf bio mechanics
- Functional movement patterns specific to golf
This information is then used to design a completely personalised exercise program that will not only help improve your body and your golf, but reduce the likelihood of developing injuries that may impact your continued enjoyment of the game, as well as improving your overall lifestyle health and wellbeing.
Strength & Conditioning
The Strength and Conditioning department of the Institute of Golf works hand in hand with the Physiotherapy team to evolve your game.
Combined, the MBA and GPA help to identify your body’s physical limitations and weaknesses. This gives us the platform to personalize a strength and conditioning programme to help improve your golf swing.
The Golf Physical Assessment (GPA)
The Golf Physical Assessment (GPA) is completed to identify the following:
- Golf Specific Functional Strength
- Body Composition
- Cardiovascular Fitness
A GPA is a short hour-long testing procedure where we test, assess and analyse the following:
- Static and Dynamic Posture Analysis
- Spinal Mobility and Strength
- Functional Movement Patterns Specific to Golf
- Ultrasound Body Composition assessment
- Cardiovascular Fitness Assessment
The Institute of Golf Physiotherapy and Strength and Conditioning Specialists work directly with each other to ensure that you achieve your goals. They provide tailored golf programs for the aspiring golfer.
