Midwifery care takes place in partnership with women and their whānau. It enhances and protects the normal process of childbirth.
Here at M3 Midwifery, we provide primary maternity care taking responsibility for the care throughout pregnancy, during labour and birth and up to six weeks following the birth. As community midwives, we work in collaboration with other health professional and provide care within the hospital or home settings.
Kia Ora and congratulations on your pregnancy. My name is Ayla Witehira I’m a registered midwife based here in Whangārei. I grew up in the heart of my Iwi, Ngāti Wai, and my connection and love for midwifery runs deep. I will always aim to do my best to ensure a positive pregnancy, labour, birth and postnatal experience. As we connect and create a partnership, I will provide evidence-based, up to date care, individualising it to suit you and your whānau.
I am approachable, open, caring and respectful. The journey of pregnancy and becoming parents is an exciting time and it is an honour and a privilege to be a Midwife. My practice partner is Sarah O’Donnell and together we will provide professional care that promotes women’s health through flexibility, empowerment and support. I look forward to hearing from you and joining you on your journey.
Kia Ora, my name is Katie and I have been a midwife for 29 years. It is more than a job to me and I enjoy the variety that this role brings. What I enjoy most is the relationship that builds over the course of a pregnancy so that we have the opportunity to build a trusting and mutually rewarding connection. I teach Hypnobirth and have seen at first hand the value that this method of birth preparation brings to a couple; the classes are in Whangārei bi-monthly and I limit numbers to 8 couples. I keep my case load small so that I can enjoy the journey with you! I look forward to hearing from anyone needing a midwife that feels I might be the right fit for your whānau. I am part of the M3 midwife team and Ayla Witihira is my team colleague. If you would like to engage with us please email us in the first instance.
