SARAH O’DONNELL

About Me

Kia Ora I spent eight years of Nursing in Surgical, High Dependency and Oncology Units before training in my lifelong passion of Midwifery. I have been involved in a range of Midwifery practice over the last sixteen years, including my current role of LMC in Whangarei, Community Midwife for the DHB, home births, teaching Antenatal Classes both with Adults and at the Teen School and of course working in Post Natal and Birthing Suite at Whangarei Hospital. Due to the most wonderful experience of having my three beautiful boys, I have an innate understanding of what women and their families go through during this precious time. I am truly passionate about Midwifery, and am lucky to have a job that I love. It is a privilege to be able to share this special time in people’s lives with them.

MARIE CHOPIN-MCCARTHY

About Me

Welcome, My name is Marie and I have 27 years experience as a midwife both working in hospitals and as a lead maternity carer. As your Midwife I will provide continuity of care and work in partnership with you during your pregnancy and, if needed, refer to an obstetrician if any concerns arise. I came to New Zealand in 2002 where I discovered the midwifery I have always wanted to practise. It was the New Zealand College of Midwives “Partnership in Care” philosophy that I thought was a wonderful way to work with mothers and their family/whānau and I love it. Pregnancy is the ideal time to learn about your body and your growing baby, and as you go through your pregnancy, I will share information with you to help you make informed decisions that are right for you. I provide hospital births (pools for hire) in and around Whangarei. I live in Whangarei with my husband Mike, an artist and musician, along with Denny the chocky poodle and Bobster, the kitty. I have 3 grandsons and 1 new granddaughter.
