The Pilates Method is a low impact form of body conditioning suitable for all ages and levels of fitness. Pilates focus is on activating strength of the ‘core’ muscles that support the spine and balancing the muscles of the body to create better posture, flexibility and whole body movement. It is a series of precise and controlled movements that engages the mind and body to work together to improve self-awareness and well-being.
If you are new to Pilates we welcome and encourage you to come early to class to meet the Instructor and discuss your health and wellness goals. Likewise we do offer one on one, duet or small group introduction sessions to get you started on your your journey.
M3 Yoga offers a safe, sustainable practice allowing her students to understand their own body through connection of the breath, with movement and presence. A learning environment where students can understand, feel and appreciate the results of their own commitment to practice.
A safe, accessible practice for most students with an emphasis on moving the body with an awareness of breath. A 60 minute class incorporating both standing and seated postures, vinyasa (flow) and pranayama (breath) to build strength, balance, flexibly and focus. And of course relaxation (savasana) at the end.
If you’ve never tried Yin Yoga, this is the place and the teacher to experience it with. Postures are nearly all floor based, with long holds, working on the connective tissues (think ligaments, joints, fascia and even our bones). It is a quiet, healing, meditative and often challenging experience that nourishes our nervous system as well benefitting our physical health. “We do not use the body to get into the pose, we use the pose to get into the body”.
We can assist participants of all ages and abilities to discover the many benefits our yoga classes can provide. no prior experience is required. We do offer one on one, duet and small session for a more individual experience on request.
(QI = life energy. GONG = management, work) An ancient Chinese discipline of cultivating the internal energy. Simple yet very effective, profound practices to enhance and extend life. Short sequences of flowing movements practiced to release blockages and tension. These powerful holistic exercises depend more on awareness and sensitivity then strength and speed but producing the quality of being centered-like the calm in the center of the storm.
If you are new to Qi Gong we welcome and encourage you to come early to class to meet the Instructor and discuss your health and wellness goals. Likewise we do offer one on one or small group introduction sessions to get you started on your your journey.
Led by our experienced Physiotherapist and Pilates Instructor Lisa we offer a clinical Pilates class on Mondays. We keep the classes small to make sure everyone is completing the exercises safely and effectively. Classes teach correct activation, movement patterns and control of muscles as well as building lower limb strength, pelvic/lumbar stability and core strength.
If you have never tried Pilates and have current or recurring injury we prefer you to have a 1-on-1 45 minute session prior to starting the group classes with our Physiotherapist Lisa. Here you will discuss your goals and what you want to achieve. You will be shown how to find your neutral spine and how to engage your pelvic floors and deep abdominals, along with a few basic moves so you are ready to join the class.
Classes incorporate a combination of exercises using body weight, hand weights, resistance bands and balls as well as other gym-based equipment. It is a circuit based class with several different exercise stations and is led by our physiotherapist Daniel Hunter.
If you are new to exercises and have current or recurring injury/illness we prefer you to have a 1-on-1 45 minute session prior to starting the group classes. GP clearance may be required for some people.
