Stuart Sports Medicine

Dr Caroline Stuart is a Sport and Exercise Physician, and is also vocationally trained in Urgent Care. She is excited to return to her home city Whangārei to open Stuart Sports Medicine after completing her Sport & Exercise Physician training at Axis Sports Medicine Specialists and High Performance Sport New Zealand.

Caroline is particularly passionate about women’s health and female athletes and enjoys delivering high quality care and empowering her patients to improve their outcomes through exercise.

What is Sports Medicine?

Sports Medicine is the medical specialty that includes the treatment and prevention of sport- and exercise-related injuries, the diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal injury (due to overuse or trauma) and the prescription of exercise programmes to manage musculoskeletal pain and medical conditions such as osteoarthritis, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis and diabetes.

Referral Process

Sport and Exercise Physicians are recognised specialists by ACC and most major insurance companies. Your GP, physiotherapist or other ACC-approved practitioner needs to refer you to be seen. Your treatment will usually be fully funded and there is no co-payment or ACC surcharge.

Referral Expectations

Your GP, physiotherapist or other ACC-approved practitioner needs to refer you to be seen. Please include the ACC45 number, date of injury (or private insurer details) and current contact details for your patient, along with a brief description of their problem or your clinical question or concern. It is useful to include any imaging results (and which imaging provider was used) in your referral.

Stuart Sports Medicine is a Careway approved provider, an Affiliated Provider to Southern Cross and a First Choice provider for NIB.

Charges

Sport and Exercise Physicians are recognised specialists by ACC and most major insurance companies. Your treatment will usually be fully funded and there is no co-payment or ACC surcharge. If you are not covered by ACC or private insurance, please contact us to discuss fees for your care.
