Kia Ora and congratulations on your pregnancy. My name is Ayla Witehira I’m a registered midwife based here in Whangārei. I grew up in the heart of my Iwi, Ngāti Wai, and my connection and love for midwifery runs deep. I will always aim to do my best to ensure a positive pregnancy, labour, birth and postnatal experience. As we connect and create a partnership, I will provide evidence-based, up to date care, individualising it to suit you and your whānau.
I am approachable, open, caring and respectful. The journey of pregnancy and becoming parents is an exciting time and it is an honour and a privilege to be a Midwife. My practice partner is Sarah O’Donnell and together we will provide professional care that promotes women’s health through flexibility, empowerment and support. I look forward to hearing from you and joining you on your journey.

Sarah O’Donnell
Kia Ora. I spent eight years of Nursing in Surgical, High Dependency and Oncology Units before training in my lifelong passion of Midwifery. I have been involved in a range of Midwifery practice over the last sixteen years, including my current role of LMC in Whangarei, Community Midwife for the DHB, home births, teaching Antenatal Classes both with Adults and at the Teen School and of course working in Post Natal and Birthing Suite at Whangarei Hospital.
Due to the most wonderful experience of having my three beautiful boys, I have an innate understanding of what women and their families go through during this precious time. I am truly passionate about Midwifery, and am lucky to have a job that I love. It is a privilege to be able to share this special time in people’s lives with them.
